July 6 Update

Happy July, McKinley!
I hope you've found the last month to be relaxing and restoring!  I certainly have!

K-5 Minds at Work and K Kamp start today.  McKinley is a busy place with summer programming and SAC.  A huge thank you to those who are spending some time this summer supporting those programs!

A couple updates as we enter into summer:

Staffing Update:
John Dale (evening custodian) will be moving to the Head Custodian position at Lincoln.  John will be a great addition to the Lincoln team!  Congrats, John!

Music (McKinley/Wilson/OMS) - A huge welcome to Mara Schack, who will be joining our 761 team as a music teacher!  Mara is an Owatonna graduate (Mara Ostermeier) who has been teaching in Rice Lake, WI for the last 16 years.  Mara will be a great addition to our music team!

Lincoln Intervention - Lincoln has an interventionist role open.  I know many of you have expressed interest in teaching intervention.  If you are interested, please go online and apply.  Also, please let me know.  I think Mary Hawkins would like to move fast, so you'd need to move quickly.

Open Positions - Educational Assistant & Special Education Para:
We have open positions for next year - one Special Education Para and multiple Educational Assistant openings.  I have put in for both positions to be posted - Special Education (Job ID 6666) and K-5 Educational Assistant (Job ID 6731).  If you know of anyone who would be interested, please let them know.

For the EA position, I will work with the candidate on an ideal schedule.  We have three openings at 5.25 hours/day and one position at 4.0 hours/day.  I am hoping to recruit some quality candidates, possibly those who have their own children going to school this fall. Please help with any recruitment - and let me know if you find someone interested!

Open Leadership Opportunity - Student Council:
We still have an opening for a Student Council Advisor.  This role helps advise our student leadership team by hosting meetings, planning events, and helping facilitate the events.   This is open to any staff member, not just teachers!

McKinleyStrong Neighborhood Night - SAVE THE DATE:
Please join us for (one of my favorite nights) - McKinleyStrong Neighborhood Night!  This is the night we load a bus and visit our students.  Every year, I hear from families on how amazing our staff is for doing this.  Please, please consider joining us.  Bring your own family and come along for a bus ride to see our students!

Don't forget to go in and do your Benefits Open Enrollment - it's open now until July 14!

Keep enjoying your time away - you've earned it!
See you soon!
-Justin
